Miss Kaiwai Emily Chiu and Mr. Chi-Keung Chow were married on 16th Sep 1999
at the Trinity United Methodist Church at Germantown, Maryland.

declined.
(For those who have already sent their gifts before receiving this
announcement, their kindness are gratefully acknowledged.)

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Who were at the wedding ceremony?
A: Besides the bride and the groom, there were the pastor (who
ran the show), the groom's sister, and three personal friends from the
church.
(The wedding took place at the church which Emily usually
attends.)
Q: Why getting married so suddenly?
A: It is not that sudden after all --- we have been dating for
almost four years now.
We were beginning the long process of applying for the green cards, and
it was better to get married before handing in the applications.
And it happened that CK's sister was visiting us during mid-September. It was
good to have some family member present at the ceremony.
So we just contacted the pastor of Emily's church,
and in no time we were married. Quite efficient, eh?
Q: Any memorable incidents at the ceremony?
A: The hurricane Floyd was at full strength on our wedding day.
Rain was pouring and umbrella got overturned by the wind.
So we can honestly claim that we fought through the storm to reach the aisle.
Q: Any acknowledgements?
A: First we must thank Pastor Ann Yarbrough who conducted the
ceremony,
and Gita Dhillon, Bob and Lynn Sammel who witnessed the ceremony
despite the poor weather.
CK's sister Rowena Chow provided cosmetic advices to the bride.
The bride's blouse is a present from Dilys Chong, the skirt from Stella
Chong (no relation to Dilys).
The hat is a gift from the groom.
It goes without saying (but we are saying it anyway) that we are also very
grateful to our parents.
Q: Where was the honeymoon?
A: We had a pre-honeymoon (days before the wedding) with
CK's sister at the Shenadoah National Park, Virginia.
After the wedding we went to LA for a week, both as vacation and for the
weddings of three pairs of friends.
Q: Any plans of making a further jump into parenthood?
A: Not in the near future. (The definition of "near future" is
subjected to change without further announcement.)
The truth is so far we are not planning to having kids.
But we have many friends who did not want kids when they got married, and
ended up being happy parents in a few years.
So we are not particularly confident in upholding this decision.
Q: Why the background of this page is yellow in color?
A: Yellow is Emily's favorite color.
