Perching at the edge of the Arctic circle and over the mid-altantic ridge,
the Tolkienian landscape of Iceland was shaped by ice (glaciers, icebergs, fjords)
and fire (volcanoes, hot springs, lava fields).
The interior of Iceland is uninhabitable and uninhabited, but small towns lines
the shore,
and through them runs the 1500 km
Hringbraut (Ringroad).

Armed with our maps and tour books, armored with layers of warm clothings,
our wonderful journey
began ...
